INNER ARCHITECTURE

In 2018, The National Library of Scotland Commissioned 7 musicians, artists and choreographers to create new work to celebrate a new archive of Scotland's Exams. I was absolutely delighted to be asked to respond to the 1962 Maths Higher...

I worked with a group of singers from the local community here on Skye through March and April of 2018. Based in the Dun Beag broch near Struan we used the circular structure of the ruins, plus a little basic physics, some binary, and some gung-ho vocal experimentation to explore how we could treat our gathered ensemble as a kind of brain - thinking about the exam questions, manifesting them within the broch, and perhaps even beginning to see a way to answer some.

It was an extraordinary six weeks of research, play, music and humanity for me and below is just a taster of some of what we did...
