I am a songwriter, sound artist, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer from the Isle of Skye on the west coast of Scotland. My work is about the narratives and iconographies that underlie human behaviour, and how we can play around with them to rethink what we do.
I also just love music - I love playing it, I love writing it, and I love recording it.
Over the last few years, I have worked on a broad range of projects including the creation of the Hebridean Cable Transit Company with Philippa Thomas, writing original songs for the play We Have Won The Land, creating a Yeti Museum in a shipping container with artist Kate McMorrine, collaborating with Jason Singh and David Littler through their Sampler/Cultureclash project, recording and performing with Mairearad Green, and working on Story's End, a major collaborative project exploring death in narrative, with my band The Dead Man's Waltz and a host of visual and literary collaborators.
A new album of my songs, The Day Is Loud, is out now and you can hear it and even buy it here.
As a producer and engineer I have worked with some of the finest acts in Scotland's folk and acoustic scenes as well as developing and producing radio drama, voice over and soundtracking. My studio is a small but sweet combination of the latest software and high end analogue processing and mixing. Get in touch or visit my production page for more info. I also manage Stiuidio Ostaig, the studio at Sabhal Mor Ostaig, and lecture as part of the Gaelic and Traditional Music degree.
