6:42am: Two Dances for Children and Household Appliances is a short instrumental piece for fiddles, accordion, piano, guitar and percussion that won the inaugural Martyn Bennett Prize in 2013. I was honoured to be invited back to join Jim Sutherland and Sally Beamish as a judge in 2014, where we recently awarded the prize to the beautiful "Hebrides Terrace Seamount" by James Lindsay, and second place to the astonishing "Three Tunes From Outer Space" by 16 year old Rob Taylor.
